SCREENS AND SIEVES

The sand screw is suitable for processing material of less than 5mm particle size and can recover sand down to 200 micron. The concrete screw is very similar to the sand screw and is used for dewatering coarse aggregates and for separating metals, plastics and glass for recycling.  A typical use is separating surplus concrete from mixers into sand and gravel for reuse.

We manufacture a range of sizes capable of processing between 30 and 150 tonnes per hour.

Operation

The sand screw separates material by size, not density. Sand and water are delivered into the feed hopper. The sinking particulate is then collected in the archimedes screw (turning at 10 rpm) and conveyed and dewatered before being discharged at the top end of the screw.  Water is injected under the screw to dislodge any trapped fine particles.  Fines (smaller than 200 microns) overflows at the bottom.
