Thickener/Clarifier Cones

The Parnaby thickener/clarifier cones have a special profile and an internal moving rake designed to achieve the rapid settlement of solids in water. We make a range of cones from 3m to 20m diameter capable of throughputs of between 30 amd 1,000 cubic metres per hour.

Operation

Effluent is pumped from the sump to the top of the cone. A polymer flocculant is added (2) which causes fine particles to bind together and settle rapidly. Clear water overflows from the top of the cone (5) into a storage tank. The sludge at the bottom of the cone (which usually contains 30 - 35% solids) is pumped to a conditioning tank.
