Automotive Waste Washing
Automotive Waste Washing is the processing of ASR (Automotive Shredder Residue) or also known as SLF (Shredder Light Fraction) which is the by-product from the recycling and recovery of valuable metals from both commercial and domestic vehicles.
The SLF is typically a fines stream of <50mm material with huge potential for providing an additional revenue stream, and by saving costs on landfill. Typically SLF contains high concentrations of mixed metals, plastics, rubber, fibre and aggregates.
The Parnaby closed loop separation and recovery system can be used in the Automotive Waste Washing industry to wash and separate out the followings material groups ready for resale, turning a waste into multiple high value products streams:
- Ferrous metals
- Non-ferrous metals
- Valuable thermo plastics such as PP, PE, ABS and PP
- Concentrated waste stream including thermos-setting plastics and fibres which contain a high calorific value and are commonly used in the waste to energy sector.
